Three Destinations. Eleven Days. One Unforgettable Trip.

This eleven day journey takes us from the ancient streets of Edinburgh through the wild heart of the Scottish Highlands and out to the otherworldly beauty of the Isle of Skye -- three of the most extraordinary destinations in all of Scotland, each completely different from the last.

We spend four days in Edinburgh, one of the most beautiful and atmospheric cities in the world. We'll explore the Old Town together, dedicate a full day to visiting the real Outlander filming locations -- Lallybroch, Castle Leoch, Wentworth Prison, and Cranesmuir -- and have plenty of unscheduled time to wander on our own through closes and courtyards that have been here for centuries.

From Edinburgh we board the train north into the Highlands, where Scotland gets wilder and more dramatic by the mile. Based at a stunning Georgian mansion steeped in Jacobite history just outside Inverness, we'll walk Culloden Battlefield, stand beside the ancient Clava Cairns, cruise Loch Ness, explore the whisky distilleries of the Highland coast, and spend an unforgettable evening at a historic Highland farm with traditional music, dancing, and a proper Scottish feast.

Our final stop is the Isle of Skye -- two full days on an island that operates by its own rules entirely. Fairy pools, dramatic clifftops, ancient castles, and landscapes that look like they belong in another world. It is the perfect way to end a trip that will stay with you long after you're home.

Groups are kept small -- just six to eight women -- so this never feels like a tour. It feels like traveling with friends.

Welcome to Edinburgh
Day 1 -- September 14

Upon arrival at Edinburgh Airport, hop in a taxi or jump on the express bus into the city center and make your way to the Market Street Hotel in the heart of the Old Town -- a stunning boutique property where the lobby, bar, and restaurant all sit on the seventh floor with panoramic views over the entire city skyline. Drop your bags, take in that view for a moment, and then step outside into one of the most beautiful and atmospheric cities in the world. The Royal Mile is right outside your door -- ancient, cobbled, and full of stories that go back a thousand years. Wander at your own pace, breathe it all in, and let Edinburgh work its magic on you.

This evening we'll gather for welcome drinks on the rooftop with the castle, the spires, and the entire Old Town spread out below us before heading out together for our first dinner as a group. By the time the night is over you'll already feel like you've known these women for years.

Through the Stones
Day 2 -- September 15

If we came on this trip even partly because of Outlander -- and let's be honest, most of us did -- today is going to wreck us in the best possible way. We're spending the full day in the places that made this story feel real. Not sets. Not replicas. The actual castles, the actual landscapes, the actual ground that Diana Gabaldon drew from when she built this world.

Midhope Castle is Lallybroch. Doune Castle is Castle Leoch -- walk through the gatehouse, stand in the great hall, look out over the River Teith, and try to separate the show from the reality. You won't quite be able to, and that's exactly the point. From there we move through Linlithgow Palace and the perfectly preserved village of Culross, which stood in for Cranesmuir in the series. Our guide will have us seeing Scotland through an entirely different lens by the time the day is done.

Edinburgh Off the Leash
Day 3 -- September 16

Today is completely open. Sleep in, strike out on your own, or join us for a day working through some of the most extraordinary corners of this city. Either way Edinburgh is waiting and it does not disappoint.

For those joining us we'll start with breakfast at a café tucked at the foot of Calton Hill, climb up for jaw-dropping panoramic views over the city, wind our way through Princes Street Gardens, explore Edinburgh Castle, stop into the Scotch Whisky Experience, take in the Vennel viewpoint, wander Victoria Street for lunch, and finish at the deeply atmospheric Greyfriars Kirkyard and the Underground Vaults. It's a big day and every single minute of it is worth it. This evening the whole group comes back together for dinner.

North to Inverness
Day 4 -- September 17

Edinburgh has been incredible -- but the Highlands are calling and today we answer. After one last breakfast with those rooftop views at the Market Street Hotel we'll head to the station and board the train north. Watch the city fall away and the countryside open up into something wilder and more dramatic by the mile. Rolling hills giving way to moorland, moorland giving way to sweeping glens and ancient forests, lochs appearing out of nowhere.

By the time Inverness comes into view we'll already feel like we've crossed into a completely different world. Our home for the next four nights is Culloden House -- a grand Georgian mansion set in nearly 40 acres of private woodland and gardens just outside the city, so steeped in history that Bonnie Prince Charlie himself used it as his battle headquarters before the fateful Battle of Culloden in 1746. High ceilings, open fireplaces, ornate plasterwork, and more than 200 whiskies behind the bar. Tonight we'll have dinner together right here and raise a glass to the Highlands.

Culloden, Loch Ness & the Heart of the Highlands
Day 5 -- September 18

Today we step into the most dramatic chapter of Scottish history. We'll walk Culloden Battlefield, where the Jacobite rising came to its devastating and heartbreaking end in 1746 -- if you're an Outlander fan you already know this story, but standing on the actual ground where it happened is something else entirely. From there we'll visit the Clava Cairns, ancient Bronze Age standing stones widely believed to have inspired the stones in Outlander. The atmosphere out there is unlike anything you'll experience anywhere else.

And then Loch Ness. Deep, dark, stretching further than you can see, with Urquhart Castle sitting in ruins on its banks. Legendary doesn't begin to cover it.

A Traditional Highland Evening
Day 6 -- September 19

Today is a free day to explore the Highlands at your own pace before we come together for the evening that everyone will still be talking about years from now. Sleep in, wander the grounds of Culloden House, drive out to discover a distillery or a hidden loch, or simply sit by the fire with a good book and a dram. The Highlands have a way of making even the quietest day feel extraordinary.

Tonight we're heading to a historic Highland farm for a traditional Scottish evening unlike anything most people ever get to experience. A proper feast built around the best of Scottish produce, live traditional music that fills the room and gets into your bones, and a ceilidh that will have every one of us on our feet whether we think we can dance or not -- and we can all dance, it turns out, when the music is this good. This is Scotland at its most alive, its most generous, and its most joyful. It is completely one of a kind and it could only happen here, in this place, with this group of women.

The Highlands at Your Own Pace
Day 7 -- September 20

Today is yours entirely and the Highlands are waiting. Sleep in, enjoy a leisurely breakfast at Culloden House, then head out in whatever direction calls to you. Inverness itself is worth a morning -- wander the banks of the River Ness, explore the Victorian market, browse the independent shops along the high street, or find a cozy pub and just sit in it for a while.

Or join us for a distillery tour through some of the most celebrated whisky country in the world. The Highlands are home to some of Scotland's greatest distilleries and visiting one is an experience that goes far beyond a simple tasting -- it's a window into centuries of Scottish craft, tradition, and ingenuity. Whether you're a whisky lover or a complete novice you'll leave with a new appreciation for what goes into every glass.

However you spend it the Highlands will not let you down.

Into Skye
Day 8 -- September 21

Today we leave Culloden House and the Highlands behind and make our way to the Isle of Skye -- and the drive alone is worth the price of the trip. The landscape becomes more dramatic with every mile, building toward something that doesn't look entirely real. We'll stop at Eilean Donan Castle, one of the most breathtaking and photographed castles in all of Scotland, perched right at the meeting point of three lochs. Then across the famous Skye Bridge and onto an island that operates by its own rules entirely.

Our home on Skye is the Cuillin Hills Hotel, set in 15 acres of private grounds above Portree's colorful harbor, with views across the bay to the dramatic Cuillin mountain range that will quite literally stop you in your tracks. An award winning restaurant, a whisky bar with over 130 malts, and rooms that look out over scenery so beautiful it barely seems real. Check in, take a breath, and look out the window. Welcome to Skye.

Skye, Unfiltered
Day 9 -- September 22

Today is a full day on the island with nothing but time and some of the most extraordinary scenery on earth -- and no agenda except to drink it all in. The Isle of Skye is the kind of place that rewards wandering, so today we wander.

The Fairy Pools are exactly what the name promises -- crystal clear water cascading down from the Cuillin mountains into a series of pools so beautiful they look like something out of a fairy tale. The Quiraing is a dramatic landscape of ancient cliffs, pinnacles, and rock formations that has to be seen to be believed -- photographers come from all over the world to capture it and still can't quite do it justice. Dunvegan Castle is the oldest continuously inhabited castle in Scotland and the ancestral home of Clan MacLeod, with a history that stretches back over 800 years.

Or forget the list entirely and just drive until something stops you in your tracks. Because something will. That is simply what Skye does.

Skye Without a Schedule
Day 10 -- September 23

One more day on Skye and we are not rushing a single minute of it. This island has a way of making you want to stay forever and today we're leaning into that feeling completely. Sleep in, enjoy a long breakfast at the Cuillin Hills Hotel with those views across the bay, and then head out for whatever calls to you. There is always one more road to drive, one more viewpoint to find, one more corner of this island that takes your breath away.

If you haven't made it to the Old Man of Storr yet today is the day -- the iconic rock formation rising dramatically above the Trotternish Peninsula is one of the most photographed landmarks in all of Scotland and the walk up is absolutely worth it. Or head into Portree for a wander through its colorful harbor streets, browse the independent shops, and find somewhere good for lunch overlooking the water.

Soak up every last moment of Skye today. Tomorrow we head back to the mainland.

Back to the Highlands
Day 11 -- September 24

Leaving Skye is never easy. We'll board our transport this morning and head back across the bridge to the mainland -- and if you find yourself looking back over your shoulder as the island disappears behind you, you are not alone.

Back in Inverness we'll check into the Glen Mhor Hotel, a beautiful Victorian property sitting right on the banks of the River Ness. Tonight we go out with a bang -- the Taste of the Highlands experience at Uile-bheist. We'll tour the distillery and brewery, learn the stories and Scottish myths behind the name, and then sit down together for a three course dinner built around the best of Highland produce, paired with their signature craft beer and a proper dram. Good food, good whisky, good company, and Scotland right outside the window.

Slàinte -- Until Next Time
Day 12 -- September 25

This morning we check out of the Glen Mhor Hotel and say goodbye to Scotland. Make your way to Inverness Airport for your flight home, or stay on a little longer and keep exploring -- Scotland has plenty more to offer and no one would blame you for not being ready to leave.

But before you go -- take a moment. Twelve days ago you landed in Edinburgh not knowing quite what to expect. You've walked the cobblestones of the Royal Mile, stood inside Lallybroch, crossed into the Highlands, walked Culloden Battlefield, cruised Loch Ness, driven across the bridge to Skye, and raised a glass on the banks of the River Ness with a group of women who started this trip as strangers and are leaving as friends.

That is what Unscheduled is all about. Safe travels home. We hope to see you on the next one.

Where We're Staying

These aren't just places to sleep. They're part of the story.

Every location on this trip has been chosen with intention -- not just for convenience, but for character. We stay where Scotland feels most alive. In the heart of Edinburgh's ancient Old Town, in the storied grounds just outside Inverness, above the harbor on the Isle of Skye, and back on the banks of the River Ness for one last Highland evening. Where we sleep on this trip is as much a part of the experience as where we go.

Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know before you go.

What is the group size?
Groups are kept small -- just six to eight women. Small enough that we can move through places without feeling like a tour group, large enough that the dynamic is fun and the friendships are real. This is deliberately intimate and that is exactly the point.

Do I need travel insurance?
Yes -- travel insurance is required for this trip. We strongly recommend a comprehensive policy that covers trip cancellation, medical expenses, and emergency evacuation. If you need help finding the right policy we are happy to point you in the right direction.

What airport should I fly into?
Fly into Edinburgh Airport (EDI). From there hop in a taxi or jump on the express bus into the city center -- it is a quick and easy journey straight to the hotel.

What airport do I fly home from?
You will fly home from Inverness Airport (INV). It is a small, easy airport and a stress free way to end the trip. If you would like to extend your time in Scotland and fly home from a different airport we are happy to help you plan that too.

What is the activity level of this trip?
Moderate. There will be walking -- sometimes on uneven terrain -- and a few longer days on your feet. That said this is not a strenuous trip and you do not need to be particularly fit to enjoy it. Comfortable walking shoes are an absolute must. If you have any specific mobility concerns please reach out before booking and we will talk through the details.

What should I pack?
Scotland in September means layers. The weather can be warm, cool, and rainy all in the same day so come prepared for all of it. A good waterproof jacket is essential. Comfortable walking shoes or light hiking boots are a must, especially for days like the Fairy Pools. Beyond that pack for the evenings -- there will be dinners worth dressing up for.

Do I need a car?
No -- all group transportation is included throughout the trip. You will never need to worry about driving, navigating, or parking. Scotland's roads can be narrow and challenging, especially on Skye, so leaving the driving to us is genuinely one of the best parts of this trip.

What is the cancellation policy?
Our cancellation policy will be outlined in full in your booking agreement. We strongly recommend travel insurance that covers trip cancellation so you are protected in the event of any unexpected changes.

Will I have my own room?
Yes -- everyone on this trip has their own private room. No sharing unless you are travelling with a friend and prefer to room together, in which case please let us know at the time of booking.

What happens if the trip doesn't fill?
We require a minimum number of participants to run this trip. In the unlikely event that we do not reach that minimum we will notify you as early as possible and offer a full refund of any payments made. This is why travel insurance is so important.
